Dark it was. A sound echoed through the tunnels making noise like rocks galloping down a hill. The rocks shivered every time I took a step closer to the center of the volcano.
I knew this wouldn’t be a surprise for him. Sweat beaded down my neck and back I knew I was close. The dismal shadows danced along the walls like spies of evil. The walls of the caves seemed to melt before my eyes like jelly that was… well… melting.
I could hear the steady flow of lava flowing throughout the mountain. Close I was. Steam rose from the rocks of the volcano. This was no ordinary volcano. I knew this would be my only chance. With my sword drawn I walked through looking for signs of him. There were no guards.
Around I looked. There was no one in sight. I knew where he would be… his throne, waiting for me.
I walked toward the center of his fortress. I heard a voice. It was him.
“What are you doing here?!?!?!” he demanded.
“You know why I’m here!” I challenged. I leapt up to the platform. I slowly circled around his throne, ready for anything to happen. My hands sweat as I gripped my sword. I came around to the front of the throne. He wasn’t there.
“You will never find me!” he cackled.
“I can feel your hate and your anger flowing through you!” I argued.
He came down from his hiding place full of rage. I ascended into the air and met him in mid-flight. He tried to strike a blow at me but he missed me by a quarter of a inch. We landed on the platform.
This was my only chance. I had to make this count. Closer he came. Ready I was.
This is just the end of the beginning.
